Our Story

The Chaffee County Film Commission is here to help you navigate permitting, suggest locations, connect you with crew and support services, and support our local film industry. Our county is overflowing with Colorado's natural beauty, dramatic mountain backdrops, rivers, quaint towns and talented people.

Including the historic towns of Salida, St. Elmo and Buena Vista, Chaffee County has a wide range of filming locations, quaint historic mining towns, architectural choices, dramatic landscapes, and winding mountain roads. Set in Central Colorado, Chaffee County has 2 airports and is about 2.5 hours drive from Denver.

The Chaffee County Film Commission is here to help you in a variety of ways, including:

  • Helping you navigate the permitting process.

  • Directory to assist you with finding local professional film & video crew and support services.

  • Outreach to increase awareness of Chaffee County filming locations.

"The City of Salida is very excited to welcome the Chaffee County Film Office to our community!  As the oldest Creative Arts District in Colorado, the Film Office’s delivery of talent and visual arts to Salida is in our wheelhouse.  We’re grateful for the Office opening up here and we look forward to creative partnerships in the future."
